Presentation Description

Forecasting Shoaling on the Mississippi River using Crowd-sourced and USACE Operational Data

This research aims to forecast shoaling at Louisiana ports located along the Mississippi River. A primary concern of port operators is maintaining draft at port facilities to ensure the safe and timely transportation of goods. This work utilizes crowd-sourced data and machine learning to forecast shoaling on time horizons of days to months, which can enable port operators to make informed decisions regarding river management and port operations.
