James W. Pahl, Ph.D.

Dr. James Pahl joined the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources’ Coastal Restoration Division in 2006 and was part of the State’s 2008 restructuring of its coastal program into the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA). He is now a staff senior scientist in the CPRA Planning and Research Division, where his primary duties are data and tool development and other technical support to agency programmatic and project-specific planning and implementation. He is currently CPRA’s overall technical lead on the Lowermost Mississippi River Management Program, funded by the RESTORE Council. Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in central Maryland, Jim has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and a Ph.D. in Oceanography and Coastal Sciences from Louisiana State University. He also worked as a Post-doctoral Research Associate in the Duke Wetland Center prior to joining State government.

Review of Technical Activities and Current Status of CPRA’s RESTORE-funded Lowermost Mississippi River Management Program

Dr. Pahl will review the development of CPRA's RESTORE-funded Lowermost Mississippi River Management Program (LMRMP), and provide a summary of the technical activities and key findings undertaken to date in support of the program. His presentation will also discuss ongoing and future LMRMP activities, and CPRA's discussions for next steps beyond the current phase of the program. His presentation will serve as an introduction to several technical presentations associated with LMRMP.
